How the Training Works

We teach smart media relations skills & how to turn pitches into placements. Through an intensive & interactive one-day workshop, attendees will have a better understanding of how the various news media works & what it takes to be an A+ publicist. Real reporters & producers play a key role in the workshop -- listening to pitches & offering feedback and critique.

Through various creative exercises, attendees learn first hand how to hone their pitching skills & sharpen their pitches. They will be encouraged to participate in brainstorming and sharing client problems & current media relations projects. Through various case histories & placements/broadcast coverage clips, the teachers will demonstrate the strategies/objectives/challenges behind them. Samples of pitch letters, media strategies, media lists, and case histories will be distributed to each participant.

Prior to the workshop, the company will meet with senior management to do a complete assessment of each participant's media relations skill set; weaknesses/areas that need improvement; level of experience, etc. Additionally, the workshop can be customer-tailored & additional topics can be added to fit a variety of needs/objectives.

  • I want to compliment you on the media training you have done for me over the years. It was always well-planned, in-depth and effective. Those who trained with you benefited by being 'camera ready', knowing how to react and respond. And because of your thorough training, they gained more confidence, which always shows on camera.

  • I have known Karen Parziale professionally for the past 15 years. I first met Karen when she headed up the public relations team at Dorf & Stanton Public Relations for my employer, Beth Israel Medical Center. Karen was the energetic driving force behind many successes that the agency achieved on Beth Israel’s behalf, including major placements in The New York Times, USA Today and other national newspapers and network news broadcasts.

Since establishing a successful public relations consulting agency, I have recommended Karen to several colleagues - and they have been extremely pleased with the results. Karen’s 25+ years in the public relations field has been a valuable asset to many successful public relations campaigns for numerous clients. And I can say without question or reservation that if the opportunity ever arose, I would again seek out Karen’s expertise. She is a warm and engaging individual with outstanding credentials and confidence - all qualities that serve her and her clients well. She has my unconditional recommendation.
